Margaret Jeanette (Barnes) Meek

March 12, 1913 – December 24, 1977

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday for Mrs. Otto (Margaret Jeanette) Meek, 721 North Forest, Chanute, Kan., who died unexpectedly at 4:50 a.m. Saturday at the home of a cousin, Henry Bartmeier, Sand Springs.

Rev. Don Harnden, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, will officiate at services at Parker Funeral home. Burial will be at Grace Hill cemetery.

A former Perryan, Mrs. Meek was born March 12, 1913, at Enid. She was married May 1, 1931, at Perry to Otto F. Meek, who survives. She was a 1934 graduate of Perry high school and was a licensed practical nurse.

She was a graduate of a nursing school at the Neodesha, Kan., hospital. Mrs. Meek moved to Enid in 1944, to Muskogee in 1946, to Coffeyville, Kan., in 1952 and to Chanute in 1959.

In addition to her husband of the home address, survivors include two daughters, Mrs.. Janet Schultz, Arlington, Tex.; and Mrs. Norma Porter, Dover, Del.; a son, Ernest Meek, Heath, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Frances Scales, Comfort, Tex.; and seven grandchildren.
