John William Powers

– son of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Powers, was born November 29, 1918, in Perry, Oklahoma. He has attended school in Perry.

While a student in Perry he has been interested in Football and Basketball.

Following graduation he expects to enter college. He is interested in business.

November 29, 1918 – December 27, 1994

Former Perry resident John W. Powers, 76, died at 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, 1994, at the Veterans Administration hospital in Muskogee.

Graveside rites are planned for 2 p.m. Thursday at Grace Hill cemetery in Perry under direction of Brown Funeral home.

Powers was born in Guthrie on Nov. 29, 1918. His parents were Walter and Marguerite (Hazen) Powers. He was a graduate of Perry high school and served at Pearl Harbor with the United States Navy.

He and Eddie Newsom were married on June 4, 1949. Powers was a petroleum land man before his retirement from Cities Service in 1983.

In addition to his wife, of the home in Tulsa, survivors include one son, Robert Powers, Tulsa; one daughter, Jackie Bogash, Tulsa; two granddaughters, Amanda and Samantha Bogash, both of Tulsa; one sister, Hazel Plumer, Dallas, TX; and one brother, Walter Powers, Tulsa.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Alzheimer’s research.
