Robert Hazen Powers

November 23, 1914 – May 13, 1973

Robert H. (Bob) Powers, 58, of 523 Tenth street, long-time Perry businessman, died at 9 a.m. Sunday at his home.

Powers was born Nov. 23, 1914, in Perry, to Walter S. and Marguerite Jane (Hazen) Powers. He graduated from Perry high school in 1933 and from Oklahoma State university in 1938.

He was married April 19,1940, in Perry to the former Mary Lindeman, who survives. Mrs. Powers is Noble county treasurer.

He owned and operated Powers Abstract company, which was opened by his father, W. S. Powers, in 1889. His parents came to Perry at the opening of the Charokee Strip for settlement in 1893.

Powers also had been very active with semi-professional baseball teams, which gained much fame for Perry.

Survivors in addition to his wife of the home address include his mother, Mrs. Marguerite Powers, Perry; two sisters, Mrs. John Tua, McAlester, and Mrs. Harold Plumer, Ft. Worth, Texas; and two brothers, John W. and Walt, both of Tulsa.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic church with Rev. Anthony Dockers officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery.
