Mildred Ida Smith

April 29, 1914 – September 8, 1933

Mildred Ida Smith, daughter of E. C. Smith, was born in Perry April 29, 1914 and died September 8, 1933 at St. Mary’s hospital, making her 19 years, 4 months and 10 days old. She attended school at New Hope, district 75, until she completed the eighth grade.

She attended the Newkirk high school three years, living one year with her brother Allen and two years with Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Weddle. Last year she attended Perry high school, where she graduated. She had suffered with mastoid trouble.

She spent three summer vacations in Newkirk, working at the Chili King to help herself through school. She united with the Christian church at Cannon City, Colorado, when 12 years old. Those left to mourn her loss are her father and stepmother, two brothers, her grandmother and a half sister. She was buried at Blackburn, Oklahoma, beside her mother who preceded her in death in 1918.
