Harry “Joe” Shoop

December 9, 1924 – May 27, 1983

Joe Shoop, 58, 1011 Delaware street, died at 2:30 a.m. Friday at Perry Memorial hospital.

Funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Parker Funeral home chapel. Rev. Rick Markham, pastor of the First Baptist church, will officiate. Burial will be at Grace Hill cemetery.

Shoop was born at Perry, Dec. 9, 1924, and had lived all his life in the Perry community. He was a 1942 graduate of Perry high school and married Norma Ewy at Perry, Nov. 20, 1948. He was a World War II veteran.

Shoop was a member of the First Baptist church, was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite Consistory. He was an employee of Charles Machine Works.

Survivors include Mrs. Shoop, of the home address; a son, Vincent A. Shoop, Perry; one daughter, Mrs. Roger (Pamela Ann) Gierhart, Tulsa; a sister, Mrs. Wayne (Mary Louise) Allen, Billings; and four grandchildren.

A memorial has been established for the First Baptist church building fund.
