Leon Richard Hicks

One of three high school boys to have passed the navy’s examination for V-12 training in that branch of the service, Leon Richard Hicks’ post-graduation schedule includes college naval training.

He is 17 and was born near Red Rock, the son of Leon Hicks, Sr., Noble county’s state representative this year. Grade school at Pleasant Valley, district 27, was followed by four years in Perry high school.

He was secretary of the Perry Future Farmers of America chapter during his senior year. Hicks held membership in the junior national honor society as well as the senior society.

Leon R. Hicks, 63, of OKC passed away Friday. Services will be at 2pm, Monday at Putnam City Christian Church, with a 2pm, Committal service in Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Tulsa.

Mr. Hicks was a Navy veteran of WW II, and was a retired supervisor in the Field Audit Section of the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia; daughter, Lesalie Remick of Springfield, MO; 2 sons, Leon R. Jr. of Honolulu, Robert C. stationed in Adak, Alaska; father and stepmother, Leon and Opal Hicks of Cleveland, OK; 8 grandchildren, Samantha and Zachary Hicks, Kalani, Travis, Tracy Hicks, Heather and Kari Hopper, and Kristen Remick; great granddaughter, Morgan Hopper.
